About this game
Reel Rush is a three-minute fishing derby: charge a cast, wait for a nibble to become a strike, then work the fish in while a tension meter warns you before the line breaks. Every species you land goes into a catch log that is kept between visits.
Goal: Score as many points as you can in three minutes by landing fish, with heavier and rarer catches worth more.
Reel Rush is an original fishing game built for the browser in the style of 1980s arcade cabinets: pixel art, a chiptune soundtrack and CRT scanlines, all generated in code. It is free, has no ads and needs no download or account.

- On a phone
- Hold anywhere to charge the cast and to reel, drag left or right while holding to steer, tap a lure icon at the top while aiming, and use the pause button at the top right.
- Round length
- Each round lasts three minutes, plus a short overtime to finish a fish already on the line.
Tips
- Wait for the strike before pressing: hitting it during a nibble often scares the fish off, and a very quick reaction to the strike gives a Perfect Hook with a weaker fish and 10 percent more points.
- Hold the direction opposite to the way the fish is pulling; it eases the tension and tires the fish faster.
- Landing fish in a row builds a streak multiplier up to 2.0 times, and it resets whenever a fish gets away.
Questions
How do I unlock new fishing spots?
Score 600 in one round to open Mirror Lake, 1,200 for Coral Reef and 2,000 for Ice Hole.
Which lure should I use?
The Worm works best left still, the Spinner while you reel it, and the Jig sinks fast to deep water. The Glow Bug gets a boost at Mirror Lake and a bigger one at Ice Hole.
