About this game

Pedal Panic puts a rider on a small bike with real weight and balance, rolling over grassy hills, launch kickers and spiked pits. You start with 60 seconds on the clock, and every checkpoint flag buys more, so the run is a race against time as much as a stunt show. The course is built fresh for every run and gets steeper and wider as you go.

Goal: Ride as far as you can before time runs out, adding points for distance, stars, flips and wheelies.

Pedal Panic is an original bike stunt game built for the browser in the style of 1980s arcade cabinets: pixel art, a chiptune soundtrack and CRT scanlines, all generated in code. It is free, has no ads and needs no download or account.

What’s inside

  • One timed run on a new course every time you start
  • 60-second clock; a checkpoint flag every 60 m adds 15 seconds, up to 99
  • Kickers get taller and spiked pits get wider over roughly the first 900 m
  • Scoring: 1 point per metre, 100 per star, 200 per two-second wheelie, 500 per flip

On a phone
Hold the right half of the screen to pedal (or lean forward in the air) and the left half to brake (or lean back), press the Hop button at bottom left to hop, and tap the timer to pause.
Round length
Runs last 1-3 minutes, depending on how many checkpoints you reach.

Tips

  • Each checkpoint also pays 10 points for every whole second left on the clock, so riding fast scores twice.
  • Leaning back rotates the bike much faster than leaning forward, so backflips are the easiest way to land double and triple flips.
  • Land on the back wheel or both wheels, because touching down steeply nose-first on the front wheel throws the rider off.
  • A crash sends you back to the last flag after a short pause and the clock keeps running, so skip a risky flip when time is short.

Questions

How do I get more time in Pedal Panic?

Ride past a checkpoint flag. Each one adds 15 seconds to the clock, which tops out at 99, and gives a bonus for the time you had left.

How do I do a wheelie?

Keep pedalling on flat ground until the front wheel lifts, then hold it up. Every two seconds on the back wheel alone is worth 200 points.

Can I hop on a phone?

Yes. The Hop button at the bottom left hops, and you can hold the right half to pedal at the same time. On a keyboard it is Space or Z.
