About this game

Paddle Duel is top-down table tennis: where the ball meets your paddle sets the return angle, and moving the paddle as you hit adds spin that curves the ball. Every rally speeds the ball up a little, and power-ups drift onto the table mid-rally for whoever hit the ball last.

Goal: Win a set by reaching 7 points and take two sets to win the match, or in Arcade Rush return as many balls as you can in one minute.

Paddle Duel is an original paddle game built for the browser in the style of 1980s arcade cabinets: pixel art, a chiptune soundtrack and CRT scanlines, all generated in code. It is free, has no ads and needs no download or account.

  • 1P vs CPU on Easy, Medium or Hard
  • 2P Local on one keyboard or touch screen
  • Arcade Rush: 60 seconds solo against a wall
  • Power-ups: Big, Slow, Split and Freeze
Players
1-2 players on one keyboard or one touch screen.
On a phone
Drag on your half of the table and the paddle follows your finger; tap the top centre to pause.
Round length
A best-of-three match usually takes 4-8 minutes; Arcade Rush lasts exactly one minute.

Tips

  • Hitting the ball near the end of your paddle sends it off at a steep angle, while a centre hit returns it nearly straight.
  • Move the paddle as you make contact to put spin on the ball and bend its path away from your opponent.
  • Power-ups go to the player who touched the ball last, so steer your returns through them; Freeze locks your opponent's paddle for about 1.5 seconds.

Questions

Can two people play Paddle Duel on one phone?

Yes. In 2P Local the left player drags on the left half of the screen and the right player on the right half.

What do the power-ups do in Paddle Duel?

Big makes your paddle taller, Split adds a second ball, Freeze stops your opponent's paddle briefly, and Slow makes their next return come back slowly.
