About this game
Powder Rush is a top-down run down an endless, randomly generated slope of trees, rocks, moguls, ice and deep powder. Your board carves with momentum, so sharp turns bleed speed, and after 25 seconds an avalanche starts chasing you.
Goal: Score for distance, slalom gates and clean trick landings while staying ahead of the avalanche.
Powder Rush is an original snowboarding game built for the browser in the style of 1980s arcade cabinets: pixel art, a chiptune soundtrack and CRT scanlines, all generated in code. It is free, has no ads and needs no download or account.
What’s inside
- One endless run on a new random slope each time
- 3 lives for crashes; the avalanche ends the run at once
- Ramp tricks: spins of 180 degrees and up, plus grabs
- Players
- 1 player
- On a phone
- Drag on the slope to steer toward your finger; hold the left side panel to brake, hold the right panel to tuck or tap it to hop.
- Round length
- Runs usually last 1-4 minutes, depending on how long you can outpace the avalanche.
Tips
- Gates and tricks share one combo multiplier, so a gate worth 100 becomes 300 on a three-in-a-row streak, but missing a gate or crashing resets it.
- In the air, steer to spin and press up or down to grab; you must land within 40 degrees of straight or you slam and lose a life.
- Tucking raises your top speed from about 79 to 106 km/h on the speed gauge, and that is how you open up the gap on the avalanche.
Questions
How do you escape the avalanche in Powder Rush?
Keep your speed up: tuck on open snow and avoid moguls, braking and hard carves, since the avalanche gains on you whenever you slow down.
What tricks can you do in Powder Rush?
Spin 180, 360 or 540 degrees off a ramp, with or without a grab; they score 200, 500 and 1000 before the combo multiplier.
